Olivia – Health Care Worker

Olivia was looking for some part-time care work while she studies for a nursing degree. It was important to her that her employers were flexible, in the care industry and, ideally, could provide a mentor in some capacity. We were happy to help and Olivia is now an important and valued member of our Team.

Olivia says, “I have been working at St Benedicts for half a year now and I absolutely love it! Working here part-time has allowed me to progress in my Adult nursing degree with the Open University. I feel very fortunate to have the kindest nurses to work amongst and the most loveliest residents to look after whilst working towards becoming the best nurse I can be.”

Sorina – Registered Nurse

Sorina (RN) joined St. Benedicts in 2014 from Romania where she volunteered as a Nurse. We were Sorina’s first experience of life in the UK and as a Health Care Assistant in our busy Dementia Unit (The Deanery) it was clear from the very beginning care was a passion for her and an area upon which Sorina felt she could build a career. Fortunately, for us, Sorina’s love for the South West of England grew quickly too and before long her husband, Adrian, also joined our Home and began work in our Kitchen Team.
Sorina worked hard both in and out of work and, with support from our Management Team, gained her NMC PIN allowing her to then lead our Unit and work as a Registered Nurse.

Sorina has been working as a RN at St. Benedicts since 2016 meanwhile Adrian has developed his career while working as a full time Chef at St. Benedicts by gaining a Level 3 Senior Production Chef qualification.

Sorina says, “Our Home is so supportive and I take pride in ensuring all our residents live full and rewarding lives while they are cared for by me and our staff.”

“St. Benedicts feels like an extension of our own family. We love working here and the support from the Management Team enables us to achieve what we want,” adds Adrian.
